Best Chinese lunch in town, hands down. Anyone who's walked in the door here knows that it's packed wall to wall with Chinese expats, which should tell you all you need to know about the quality. And the fact that you can get a delicious and utterly filling lunch for less than $7 puts it over the top. The food here is outrageously flavorful. My first purchase was the rice and Duck they had posted on the wall, and after waiting for them to finish cooking up a fresh batch, I took the box home and gave it a taste. Wow! The sauce had a rich and savory flavor that coated my mouth and made me want more. The duck meat was tender, and went perfectly with the steamed rice. On my second visit, I grabbed the Three-entre Plate with Spicy Chicken, Beef Stew, and Crispy Chicken. The Crispy Chicken was tasty, with a pleasing saltiness and crisp breading. The Beef Stew was outstanding, with a super flavorful broth and tender beef. The Spicy Chicken was not quite as impressive, but it wasn't bad by any stretch. If you like Chinese food at all, do yourself a favor and stop in here for a quick lunch or some takeout!

Love this place! There are so many choices for the 3 dish & 1 soup deal. The place is clean, owner is friendly and the food is awesome.

    Definitely nothing special.

The restaurant is always busy, and the dish are always the same. The taste is not original Chinese though, I would call it American Chinese food. For what it's worth, the owners are very nice and friendly and I can always find a seat somehow.

You get to pick three dishes you like and you get either soup or a drink along with your meal. The line can get extremely long and most likely out the door since the place is ver small and the cashier organization isn't as great but I am always willing to wait at this place. I can't count how many times I've gotten take out from this place on my way home or picked up food from here before heading somewhere.

The first couple times I went here (a few months ago), the food was rather good but the service was never really great. However, now is DEFINITELY not the case. I went in one afternoon and the woman at the counter served me a type of chicken I knew I wouldn't like WITHOUT ASKING ME. And the two other choices that I got (sesame chicken and chicken&broccoli) barely had any chicken in them. An afternoon after that I went out to lunch with my brother. When we walked in there were two girls waiting ahead of us while the counter-woman argued with an old man in Chinese. My brother and I heard her swear at him in English and walked out. And finally, a couple days ago my mother and little brother went here. My mom told me she ordered sesame chicken for my brother but was given spicy chicken instead. In short, this place was good when it opened but now it's not even sub-par.

Had chicken lo mein, very dry. Flavorful but that was overshadowed by dry texture. Also had mongolian chicken. Wasn't spicey at all. Overall, not terribly impressed but by no means is it bad...

This is where all the Chinese people eat. 'Nuff said. Ok I'll add to it. When five of my Chinese classmates asked me to go to their favorite eatery I felt like I was finally initiated into the secret club. I couldn't miss the chance. They were so eager to introduce me to the owner, a quirky, hard working sweetheart of a person who put her blood sweat and tears into opening this establishment. I love "favorite restaurant" visits, because I often receive insight about the particulars that make my friends who they are. In China Dragon's case, this is a piece of their home away from home, somewhere they could eat the staples that they were used to making on a regular basis. I asked Simon and Fang how often they ate there - "Oh maybe twice a week, maybe more, not less." $6 for a full meal and drink or soup. I was dumbfounded.

My new favorite Chinese in State College. For the food overall I would rate it 4 stars, but its the consistency that earns it that 5th star. Never had a bad meal there yet. I'll be back for some more soon!

I went to try this place out with a friend. The lady taking the orders saw us coming in but didn't greet us at all. She was in the back with her child. So we proceeded to check out what's in the hotcase. About half of the dishes are catered to asians. Stuff like pig ears, pork dishes with lots of bones etc... And yes I am chinese but I do not like pig ears. After 2 mins, she finally comes over and ask us what we want. Since it was late, all their items were in very low quantity so we decided to order from the menu instead. But that was when she came up to us and tried to convince us to order from the hotcase. She clearly wanted us to help her get rid of what was left. She looked like she was either annoyed by us or pissed but I couldn't tell so I picked 3 random items that still seemed edible. She told me it will cost $5.95 + tax and that will be $6.30. I gave her a ten. She returned $3.50. She owed me .20 cents. I didn't want to say anything but the exact same thing happened to my friend. Why is she short changing us? Is it because my friend is white? She seems to treat her other asian customers with more respect especially the ones who spoke her language. The food was not bad but it wasn't great. I would give the food 3 stars but the service here is clearly terrible. The counter lady is rude, impatient and unpleasant to put it kindly. If you want to run a business like this, then you need to be prepared to treat customers with more patience and respect. Sorry this review isn't really about the food but I wanted to see if other people had the same experience coming here as this will be my last and only time.

Oh China Dragon. This place is pretty grimy, but oddly enough, it's one of the best Chinese food spots in State College. Mind you, that actually doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Big thing with this spot is that they sell a prepaid 11-meal card for $63. That means you'll have meals for $5.70 each after-tax, as opposed to $6.30. So this place is actually pretty small. You walk in and BAM, your glasses will instantly fog up because this place is so musky. A good sign is that it's FILLED with Chinese people. Good luck trying to find some English speakers, cause its full blown Chinese speaking here. As far as their food goes, they do have the regular rice w/ 3 items, and soup combo. Soup selections are like hot & sour, and egg drop soup. The one good thing is that they have like 15 different items to choose from, ranging from General's chicken, to eggplant, to fish, etc. One of the crappy things is that there is a ton of MSG in everything. I swear to god that I need to drink a gallon of water after every meal, and I also feel kind of queazy. Nonetheless, you have suckered me for a pre-paid meal card, so I have to come back to you for now.

I got good from this place before and it was okay, but then switched to another Chinese place. They were closed tonight though and I got the orange beef. It came in a bursting box, and kept it's box like shape. Most of it was just fried breading, it had hardly any beef, and it looked just an horrible as it was.

Ordered delivery, came quickly, and it was delicious! Pretty standard Chinese takeout, all the typical menu items that you would want and the cost was reasonable. The dinner special for 7.25 was great!

China Dragon sells authentic Chinese food!!! I was amazed when I saw the dishes I haven't had ever since I came to this country, so now I'm ordering food from this place regularly. Another nice thing would be their meal card. You pay for 10 meals up front, and you'll keep using that card until all 10 slots are filled. When all 10 are filled, you'll receive your 11th meal for free.

I'm a pescetarian, and this was my second visit. I got the 3 sides and a soup dinner for $7, and had string beans, spicy tofu, and breaded fried fish. The tofu was firm and rather good, but not my favorite. The green beans though, mixed with napa cabbage and some other vegetables, were really tasty and flavorful, with a light garlicky flavor. Unfortunately, they weren't hot, though that fact didn't detract from the taste. The fish was delicious. The breading was crunchy and flavorful with spices mixed in, and the fish inside was soft and moist. The seaweed and egg soup was light and refreshing. There's also soy sauce flavored boiled eggs available, which are really traditional and tasty. I actually got one alongside my 3 vegetable sides previously.

Food is delicious, good prices. The main thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is the service time, every time I've ordered delivery here it takes exceptionally long to arrive, often over an hour. If you're willing to wait though the food is terrific for the price.

Good quality, cheap Chinese food with a wide selection, and in a great location to boot. I've never really ordered from the actual menu so I can't really speak for that. But I always get the special here, on a near daily basis. You get to choose 3 sides, with rice, and a choice of either a soda or soup, for $7 dollars without a card, $6 if you buy the meal card with cash (11 meals for 66 dollars). The choice of sides ranges from americanized chinese food like chicken broccoli and general tso's to actual chinese food like eggs and tomato, seawood soup, pork feet, etc. My personal favorite is the braised beef with daikon radish, carrots, and potatoes. All in all, probably the best value in town for good food in a good location. The only caveat is that it can get very crowded during peak hours, so finding a seat may take a few minutes. Don't be afraid to ask to share a table with someone.

Delicious Chinese lunch in the heart of downtown State College. Oh yeah, it is super fast and it's easy on the wallet. For $6.50 including tax you get a 3 entree lunch with white rice and choice of soup or a can of soda. Dang! You can order ahead (easy take out) or stop in and order off the hot line. In and out in under 2 minutes. I had the stir fried eggplant, tofu, and spicy chicken with egg drop soup. Eggplant was awesome. Japanese eggplant cut into large chunks and sautéed in a Thai chili-esque sauce. Yum! Tofu was okay, but a little soft. If you don't like tofu, you will hate this. Chicken was good too. Crispy but not too spicy. Rice was cooked just right and soup was ok but a little bland. Overall a quick and easy lunch for a great price.

This place is value town. Do not come here if you're on a diet, the portions are epic. For $7 you get your calorie count for 3 days. They give you much better portions than Hunan Wok, which is near the ever awesome Kildare's Irish Pub. But be warned, when you walk in and queue up its assumed you're gonna go for the three dishes and a soup/soda. I am of chinese descent so the food to me is really delicious and authentic. The food is also less oily than Hunan's. Service is basic but very fast. It can be scary if you don't know what you want and there's a long queue behind. Do not eat the general tso's, its a soggy mess of flour and leathery chicken with a weird after-taste. The rest of the non-american chinese dishes are super awesome. Go between 1130 - 1430 because thats when the crowd comes in so you can be sure of an endless supply of fresh hot food. I've been in at around 1600 before and the food just looked like it was sitting there, all dried up and waiting for the rapture. My friends have ordered the delivery before and have told me the service sucks, so one might not wanna do delivery. Overall the food is so good, so huge and so reasonably priced, this place gets 5 stars and my money every single day.

Okay I am a vegetarian so this review is based on that. The meats look great and the selection is huge...but that's the problem because it is pretty much all meat. If you are a fiber-chewing sad creature like me, then this place has nothing to offer. Whatever you pick won't have enough flavor and it will truly enhance the blandness of white rice. Yes, taste buds...meet rice. Also for $7? You can get more authentic and flavorful chinese food for less than that in town. But if you like yourself some sweet and sour chicken in 24 ways...this would probably be an awesome place...1/5 for a vegetarian that likes chinese food. 3/5 for its meaty potential. Average? Do the math.

This is the worst experience with any restaurant I have ever experienced. Do not order delivery from this establishment. I ordered delivery from China Dragon yesterday and my girlfriend and I proceeded to starve waiting for over an hour and a half for them to drive the food the four blocks to my apartment. I literally could have walked there in two to three minutes. About an hour in I tried to call to cancel the order to just get food from somewhere else, but the woman told me the food was on the way and hung up on me as soon as I said I was calling about a delivery order I placed. I had placed the order online and tipped generously when I placed the order, so when we finally got the food about an hour and 40 minutes after placing the order I called China Dragon to cancel the tip, as you can imagine--I wasn't pleased with the service. I was completely calm and respectful in my call, and yet the woman who answered argued with, yelled at and berated me. She refused to cancel the tip, she said I would have to contact online, but refused to give me an email, number, or explain further, and instead yelled and hung up on me. I called back to attempt to get the number but again she yelled loudly, insulted and hung up. I was completely calm and collected through all of this and simply asked for the number. Upon calling a third time - no answer. This went on for several attempts, and then a man answered. I calmly and respectfully asked how I might cancel the generous tip I had given for the poor service. Different person, but more of the same. Yelling, berating and insulting. It was disgusting. This is the least professional and most disrespectful establishment. Horrendous customer service. Then the food: Well, as you can imagine, it was cold on delivery. Not only that, but it was very bad. Although I knew I would never do business with China Dragon ever again by any circumstance, I did give it a chance. However, it was just so bad. The fried rice was the worst I've ever encountered and the orange chicken was just terrible. My girlfriend had the broccoli and shrimp, which was nothing special. I never did get the tip back, and instead came here so that others might learn from my experience. The food honestly made me sick - physically ill. And I'm not being biased from the terrible customer service either. There are tons of asian food choices in State College - take my advice and stay away from this dump. Horrible hospitality and horrible food - just terrible people from my experience. If you want good asian food try Hunan Wok & Okinawa, they are cheaper, much better food and much better service - delivery usually takes about 10 minutes and they are much further from me than China Dragon. Maki Yaki is also very good. Even Uncle Chen's has better asian food. Order/Eat at China Dragon at your own risk. You have been warned.

I have been ordering food here for a few years and I have never been dissatisfied with the food. The location is great and is a busy/popular Chinese restaurant. Due to its popularity the place is almost always packed and I would not recommend eating at the restaurant. Also, the staff tries to be as quick as possible so they might not seem as friendly/sociable. Since the traffic is so great you can be guaranteed that the food is always fresh! If you go when its not packed you will see that the staff is very friendly. I mostly order delivery and get the same guy and find him to be great when I add instruction to my order.

Yep, just like Chop Stick Express. A scary steam table when you walk in the door. But to my surprise I was one of the few round eyes in the place, just like when I am at Chop Stick Express, a good sign. I did not touch the steam table and instead order off the menu. The small Szechuan section on the menu had an eggplant dish and a fish dish that I ordered. Both huge portions and tasty. But sadly they don't have Cold Noodles, my favorite appetizer at Chop Stick Express. The experience is bizarre. It is counter service to order, but they will bring your food out to the table if you order something that is not on the steam table. You will be served in whatever order the counter lady sees fit. You will be charged random amounts as she sees fit. If you want to be treated like you are at some fancy restaurant, a customer who only will tolerate the best of treatment then go else where. You have to enjoy the madness, it is part of the experience. They are polite, but disorganized and play favorites with some people, deal with it. The food is cheap and good and this is a college town Chinese dive. I would go back. It is my second choice place if Chop Stick Express is closed and I want Szechuan style. If I want Americana Chinese I go to Golden Wok. UPDATE: So I have been here a few more times. I still only order off the menu, not the steam table. When it is less busy the staff are far more personable, the first time I was here it was very busy and disorderly.Visits at slower times have been more of a standard restaurant experience. China Dragon has one big bonus, you can order off the menu for lunch, Chop Stick Express does not let you order off the menu until 2:30pm, steam table only until then. Everything has been tasty ( I am ordering off the small block on the menu "China Dragon Specials") I Should have also pointed out this place is clean, inside and out. I have even seen them out front cleaning the sidewalk and curbs.

The service is pretty slow here, but the food is really good. I discovered this place with a friend of mine when we went to grab dinner with a group of friends after a session of yoga, and I was pleasantly surprised with the place. I've generally disliked Chinese food for its greasy-ness and dense taste, but everything here seems to be more geared for the healthy eaters. Lots of varieties of green beans, cabbage, meat, etc. My favorite is stringy beans...the best ever! I haven't really been here enough times to really give a breakdown of the place, but with my previous experience here coming for dinner with a group of friends went well and at an affordable cost,

I went to China Dragon for my first time on Saturday evening, 11 January, for supper. I chose to order the buffet special, which costs $6.75 (including tax) and gives you rice, a choice of three entrees from a selection about a dozen, and a choice of either a bowl of soup (on which you get a choice) or a can of pop. The service was a little terse, but it was efficient. The food was about average as Chinese buffet fare goes; the egg-and-tomato thing that I selected was a little weird, though. My biggest beef with the place is the plastic silverware. I used a plastic spoon (to eat my soup) that was so sharp on the edges that it gave me a cut on my lip just from normal eating.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes.
